Ljubović Forest Park is one of the most significant green lungs of Podgorica, rising as a prominent hill in the southern part of the city. Reaching an elevation of 101 meters, the park provides an essential recreational space for citizens and plays a vital role in regulating the urban microclimate by offering shade and cooling during intense summer heatwaves. The current forest is largely composed of Aleppo pines, planted during extensive reforestation efforts after World War II to green the previously barren karst landscape. Ecologically, the park has a sanctuary for numerous songbirds and small mammals within the urban environment. Historically, the hill is home to a memorial cemetery and monuments dedicated to fallen soldiers, serving as a site of historical reflection. Geologically, Ljubović consists of sedimentary limestone, characteristic of the surrounding Zeta Plain.
