Cornesti Archaeological Park (Moldova)

Weather…

The Cornesti Archaeological Park in the Ungheni District is one of the most significant sites of the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture in Moldova. Excavations in this area have uncovered settlement structures dating back to the 4th millennium BC, providing valuable insights into prehistoric architecture and agriculture. Researchers discovered numerous ceramic fragments with characteristic spiral patterns, as well as tools made of stone and bone. In addition to the Stone Age layers, remains from the Iron Age and the early Middle Ages were also identified, indicating continuous habitation of this strategically located hilltop terrain. The site is of central scientific importance for reconstructing social organization and trade routes in the Carpathian-Dniester region. Today, the park serves both as a research base for archaeologists and as an educational site to promote awareness of the region's rich cultural heritage.
