Getting there
The historic plateau is usually accessed via roads ascending from the town of Pétange in the southwestern corner of the country. Signposted paths lead visitors directly from the modern town edges up into the expansive nature reserve.
Best season
Spring and summer are generally the finest times to appreciate both the diverse wildlife of the plateau and the visible archaeological remnants. Dry autumn days also provide excellent hiking conditions with less dense vegetation covering the ruins.
Terrain & paths
After the initial ascent from the surrounding valleys, the massive 50-hectare plateau itself presents a largely flat and easily navigable landscape. The trails combine open grassy stretches with scattered forested patches seamlessly.
What to bring
Sturdy walking shoes are highly advised, primarily to comfortably manage the uphill climb to reach the plateau's elevated surface. Sun protection is often necessary as the historical clearings offer little natural shade during midday.
Parking
Parking is typically available at dedicated trailhead lots located at the base of the hill near the outskirts of Pétange. From these starting points, visitors must proceed entirely on foot up to the archaeological nature reserve.
Safety
Visitors are strictly required to remain on the marked trails to protect both the fragile ecosystem and the unexcavated Celtic historical sites. Straying into wilder sections can disturb important archaeological grounds and ground-nesting birds.
