Siesikai Castle (Lithuania)

Weather…

Siesikai Castle is an architectural rarity and one of the few surviving Renaissance residences in Lithuania that has retained its original fortified character. The elegant, two-story structure was erected in the early 16th century on the scenic shores of Lake Siesikai. With its distinctive cylindrical corner towers and thick defensive walls, it recalls the turbulent times when noble residences were also required to provide substantial protection. Inside, the castle conceals a true cultural treasure: ongoing restoration works have uncovered exceptional frescoes featuring mythological and secular motifs, reflecting the immense wealth and refined artistic taste of its historical owners. After a prolonged period of decay during the Soviet era, the castle is now being lovingly restored to reclaim its former glory as a jewel of the Lithuanian Renaissance.
