Getting there
Reaching this unique desert attraction is straightforward via well-maintained roads leading out from central Dubai, followed by a clearly signposted unpaved but compacted sand track. A standard car can usually handle the route, although an SUV provides extra peace of mind on the sandy final stretch.
Best season
The highly recommended time to visit is during the cooler winter months from November to March, when daytime temperatures are pleasant enough for strolling. Visiting during the extreme heat of the summer months is intensely uncomfortable and generally avoided by most sensible travelers.
Terrain & paths
The surrounding terrain consists of soft desert sands integrated with flat, paved pathways that curve around the heart-shaped water features and native Ghaf trees. The walking tracks are well-groomed and easily accessible, making it a very leisurely environment suitable for all ages.
What to bring
Comfortable walking shoes are perfectly sufficient for the maintained paths, along with a hat, sunglasses, and high-quality sunscreen to combat the bright desert glare. Since facilities can be limited, bringing your own drinking water and some light snacks is strongly suggested for a comfortable picnic.
Parking
Ample, free, unpaved parking space is widely available right near the main entrance areas of the lakes. Visitors can comfortably leave their cars in these designated sandy lots, which are spacious enough to accommodate the weekend crowds without any hassle.

The area is exceptionally safe and heavily monitored, but basic desert rules still apply; stay hydrated and protect yourself from excessive sun exposure. Wildlife like birds and small desert foxes should be admired from a distance and not fed or disturbed by visitors.
Time needed
Most visitors find that one to two hours is excellent for taking photographs, walking around the interconnected lakes, and enjoying the unique ambiance. However, those planning a serene desert sunset picnic or barbecue at the nearby designated spots often extend their stay into the early evening.
