Ladakalnis Hill (Lithuania)

Weather…

At 175 meters high, Ladakalnis is one of the most famous and spectacular geomorphological formations in Lithuania's Aukštaitija National Park. While not the absolute highest elevation in the region, its strategically first-rate summit features a panorama that is arguably unmatched in the Baltics. From this vantage point, visitors can look out over six different glacial lakes simultaneously, including Linkmenas and Ūkojas, interspersed with dense emerald-green pine forests. The hill is deeply rooted in history and culture, having served as a sacred sacrificial site during pagan times, believed to be dedicated to the Baltic goddess Lada. As a highly protected natural monument, Ladakalnis attracts thousands of tourists every year. An old oak tree standing on the summit is still frequently adorned with small traditional offerings and ribbons by modern visitors.
