💡 Tips
- Visit the public beaches on weekdays to avoid the large weekend crowds arriving from Beirut.
- Expect some industrial traffic and dust on the main access roads due to the prominent cement factories.
- Try to have smaller Lebanese Pound denominations for the small kiosks and local beach vendors.
- Sunset is the best time to visit the coastal rocky areas for remarkable views.
- Don't pay for beach access at private resorts if you don't plan to use their loungers all day; there are free rocky sections.
🍽 Food
Enjoy mezze and grilled fish at the relaxed seaside restaurants along the beach strip.
Grab a freshly baked thyme flatbread for breakfast from one of the small street-side bakeries.
Look for traditional stretchy fruit ice cream (booza) at the local cafes near the coast.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Great for picking up Lebanese sweets and fresh pastries before heading out for a beach day.
You can find basic beachwear, inflatables, and local snacks near the main resorts.
The rugged cape provides impressive, quiet views over the Mediterranean away from the busy sandy beaches.
Stroll along the less commercialized sections of the shore early in the morning for a peaceful start to the day.

Chekka is a significant coastal industrial town in northern Lebanon, situated between Batroun and Tripoli. Although it features an easy on the eye coastline and beautiful sandy beaches, the town's identity and economy have been defined by heavy industry for decades. Chekka is the national center for cement and paper production; its massive industrial complexes, such as Cimenterie Nationale, supply a vast majority of the country's building materials. Despite its heavily industrial nature, the coastal waters near Chekka are frequently visited by divers exploring the natural caves beneath the Ras al-Chaqaa headland and the dramatic offshore cliffs. The settlement is also surrounded by extensive olive groves and fig orchards, which supplement the local economy. The demographic majority consists of Maronite and Greek Orthodox Christians, and the town features several modern churches as well as historical sanctuaries, such as a Church of the Virgin Mary overlooking the sea.
