Baatara Gorge Waterfall (Lebanon)

Weather…

The Baatara Gorge Waterfall, also known as the 'Cave of the Three Bridges,' is a spectacular natural phenomenon located near Tannourine. The waterfall drops 255 meters into a massive Jurassic limestone cave, creating a sweeping visual display. The site is uniquely characterized by three natural stone bridges, stacked vertically over one another, spanning the chasm. The cave system was only scientifically discovered in 1952 by French bio-speleologist Henri Coiffait. During the spring snowmelt in March and April, the waterfall reaches its full intensity as water from the Mount Lebanon range thunders into the abyss. The water eventually disappears into the bottom of the gorge and resurfaces at a spring near the village of Mgharet al-Ghaouaghir. This site is considered one of the most unusual geological formations in the world and is a major attraction for hikers and nature enthusiasts seeking extraordinary landscapes.
