Pelči Manor (Latvia)

Weather…

Pelči Manor was constructed between 1903 and 1904 for Prince Michael Lieven, based on designs by the architect Wilhelm Neumann. The building is recognized as one of the most significant examples of early Art Nouveau in Latvia, harmoniously integrating Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicist architectural elements. Its interior features preserved original details such as ornate fireplaces, elaborate wood paneling, and grand staircases that showcase the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. At the time of its completion, the manor was technologically advanced, featuring a central heating system and its own water supply. During the final stages of World War II in 1944, the building functioned as the headquarters for the German Army Group North within the Courland Pocket. Since 1922, the manor has been utilized as an educational facility, currently housing a local school, and is set within a 9-hectare landscape park containing diverse exotic tree species.
