The Art Academy of Latvia is housed in a spectacular Neo-Gothic red-brick building designed by the architect Vilhelms Bokslafs. Completed in 1905, the structure was originally built for the Riga Stock Exchange Committee's commercial school before transitioning to an art institution in 1919. The building’s architecture is characterized by its sharp gables, pointed arches, and intricate masonry, reflecting the historic Hanseatic style of the Baltic region. Inside, visitors can find magnificent stained-glass windows created by Ernst Tode and a monumental staircase that serves as a central artistic feature. The academy is located next to the Esplanāde park, forming a significant part of Riga's historic center’s cultural landscape. It remains one of the most prestigious higher education institutions for the arts in Northern Europe. The building's preservation and its role in fostering Latvian creative talent make it a vital architectural and educational monument.
