Sayram-Ugam National Park

Sayram-Ugam National Park is located in the far south of Kazakhstan, near the city of Shymkent. It is part of the transboundary UNESCO World Heritage site "Western Tien Shan." The park encompasses seven different vegetation zones, from semi-deserts to high alpine glaciers, making it a hotspot for biodiversity. For hikers and mountaineers, the park provides countless opportunities. The Ugam River valley and the trek to Lake Sayram, a heart-shaped alpine lake at 2,350 meters, are particularly popular.
