Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Italy)

Weather…

Tre Cime di Lavaredo, also known as the Drei Zinnen, is a renowned mountain group in the Sexten Dolomites of northeastern Italy. Comprising three distinct peaks, Cima Grande (2,999 m), Cima Ovest (2,973 m), and Cima Piccola (2,857 m), it is one of the most photographed mountain landscapes in the Alps. The dolomite rock was deposited in a shallow tropical sea during the Triassic period and later uplifted. The area saw heavy fighting during World War I, leaving behind tunnels and fortifications that are now historic sites. A popular circular trail (Drei Zinnen Weg) encircles the group, offering panoramic views. The region was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Local economy relies on tourism, alpine farming, and forestry.
