Yehudiya Forest Reserve (Israel)

Weather…

Yehudiya Forest Reserve is located on the Golan Heights, about 15 km east of the Sea of Galilee. The reserve covers a rugged terrain of basalt rock formations, deep canyons, and seasonal streams. It is named after the Yehudiya Waterfall, which plunges approximately 50 meters into a natural pool. The forest is dominated by Tabor oak, Atlantic pistachio, and strawberry trees, creating a dense Mediterranean woodland. Wildlife includes wild boar, roe deer, jackals, and various bird species such as the Syrian woodpecker. The reserve also features archaeological remains from the Byzantine period, including a monastery and a village. Yehudiya is a popular hiking area, with marked trails leading to the waterfall and through the canyons. The climate is Mediterranean, with annual precipitation around 800 mm, supporting a rich flora. The reserve is part of a larger network of protected areas on the Golan.
