Weather…

Capernaum (Kfar Nahum), located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, was a thriving fishing village and a major religious hub during the Second Temple and Byzantine periods. According to biblical accounts, it was the center of Jesus' ministry in Galilee and the home of the Apostle Peter. The archaeological site is dominated by the 'White Synagogue', an impressive structure built in the 4th-5th centuries CE from white limestone upon the foundations of an earlier black basalt synagogue from the 1st century. Adjacent to the synagogue is the 'House of St. Peter', where an octagonal Byzantine church was constructed over the remains of a residential structure identified as Peter's dwelling. The village remained inhabited from the 2nd century BCE until the 11th century CE. Today, the site gives unique evidence of the coexistence of Jewish and early Christian communities and provides insight into the daily life of ancient lakeside settlements.
