McLeodganj Triund
McLeodganj, often called 'Little Lhasa', is the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile and the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama. This spirited town is a center for Tibetan culture, featuring numerous monasteries, meditation centers, and handicraft markets. The Tsuglagkhang Complex is the spiritual heart of the community, where visitors can witness monks debating and devotees praying. For outdoor enthusiasts, the trek to Triund is a highlight, offering dramatic panoramic views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar range and the lush Kangra Valley. The trail passes through rhododendron and oak forests, leading to a scenic ridge well-suited for camping. Other nearby attractions include Bhagsu Falls and the peaceful village of Dharamkot. The best time to visit is from March to June and September to November. The local food scene is diverse, ranging from traditional Tibetan momos to international vegan cafes.
