McLeod Ganj
McLeod Ganj, often called 'Little Lhasa', is set in the Dhauladhar Range. Visitors are drawn by the deep spirituality of Tibetan Buddhism and the Tsuglagkhang Complex, which houses the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama. The town is defined by colorful monasteries, prayer wheels, and markets selling authentic Tibetan handicrafts. For nature enthusiasts, the area gives spectacular trekking routes, such as the famous climb to Triund, providing panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. The culinary scene is a delight, featuring Tibetan specialties like momos and thukpa alongside international cafes. Access is primarily through Gaggal Airport or by bus from Delhi. The best times to visit are spring (March to June) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is pleasant and the mountain views are clear.
