Thekkady (Periyar)

Thekkady is a nature lover's paradise located in the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats. Its star attraction is the Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. Boat cruises on the man-made Periyar Lake offer a unique vantage point to spot wild elephants, gaur (Indian bison), and sambar deer coming down to the water's edge.
