The mansion was a hub of innovation, featuring the country's first gas lighting and indoor flushing toilets. Currently, the main building houses the Istvan Szechenyi Memorial Museum, which gives a comprehensive look at the statesman's life, his role in building the Chain Bridge, and the founding of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The estate is famous for its 2.6-kilometer-long lime tree alley, planted in the mid-18th century, and its expansive English landscape garden. The nearby family mausoleum serves as a sacred national site where Istvan Szechenyi and other family members are buried.
