The Szeged Zoo, covering an area of approximately 45 hectares, is one of Hungary's youngest and most modern zoological gardens. Opened in 1989, it places a special emphasis on housing rare and endangered species in spacious, naturalistic enclosures. The park is organized geographically, allowing visitors to encounter wildlife from various continents, with a focus on South America, Asia, and Africa. Notable residents include snow leopards, clouded leopards, and a wide variety of primate species. The zoo actively participates in numerous international breeding programs (EEP) and also functions as a rescue center for injured native Hungarian wildlife. Located within a natural forest area, it provides a unique environment for environmental education and recreation, away from the city's noise.
