Pusztaszeri Forest (Hungary)

Weather…

The Pusztaszeri Forest is a defining green island in the otherwise tree-sparse steppe landscape north of Szeged, protected as part of the Pusztaszer Landscape Protection Area. The forest is of mixed composition: it contains remnants of native floodplain hardwood groves as well as oaks and acacias planted on the sandy ridges. This forest block is crucial for regulating the regional microclimate and providing protection against the wind on the open plains of the Great Plain. The crown jewels of its rich wildlife are the birds of prey, including the imperial eagle and the black kite, which find safe nesting sites here. Hiking trails weave through the area, connecting the forest with the Tisza bank and the nearby historical memorial park, offering opportunities for nature-based recreation.
