Weather…

Lake Orestiada, also known as the Lake of Kastoria, is located in the West Macedonia region of northern Greece. Situated at an elevation of 630 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by the Vitsi and Grammos mountains. The city of Kastoria is built on a peninsula that projects deep into the lake, giving it a distinctive geographic shape. The lake has been designated a Monument of Natural Beauty due to its exceptional biodiversity, providing a home to over 200 bird species, including pelicans, swans, and cormorants. Geologically, it is a relic lake dating back to the Miocene epoch, once part of a much larger aquatic system. Historically, it is famous for the Neolithic lakeside settlement of Dispilio, discovered on its southern shore, offering insights into prehistoric life in Europe. Today, the lake is the center of local tourism and the traditional fur industry of Kastoria.
