Onet-le-Château is the second-largest city in the Aveyron department, directly bordering the prefecture of Rodez. The town is a fascinating example of the connection between historical heritage and modern urbanity. The eponymous castle, originally a residence for the canons of Rodez, majestically overlooks the area and bears witness to the power of the church in the Middle Ages. Today, Onet is the economic heart of the metropolitan area, featuring numerous industrial and commercial zones. Nevertheless, the town has preserved much of its greenery and gives direct access to spectacular natural landscapes due to its location on the edge of the Causse Comtal. Culturally, Onet-le-Château is very active, particularly through the 'La Baleine' cultural center, which has a wide range of performances. The town is also an important transport hub and partially hosts the Rodez-Aveyron Airport on its territory. The architectural mix ranges from the stone walls of the old core to contemporary residential districts.
