Talange is a commune in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France. Located in the Moselle valley, the town was historically a cornerstone of the Lorrainese industrial heartland. Its growth was meteoric during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, driven by the expansion of the iron and steel industries that defined the region. The urban landscape of Talange is a fascinating mix of former workers' housing estates and reclaimed industrial zones. Following the decline of the heavy industry in the late 20th century, the town successfully pivoted towards a service-oriented economy and logistics. Its position along the A31 motorway makes it a strategic location for businesses operating between France, Luxembourg, and Germany. The Moselle River, which flows through the area, has been transformed from a purely industrial artery into a recreational asset, featuring scenic riverbanks and parks. Talange is also notable for its diverse demographic makeup, a legacy of the international workforce that arrived during the industrial boom. Recent years have seen significant urban renewal projects aimed at modernizing the city center and enhancing public facilities for its residents.
