Hagondange is a town in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region, situated in the heart of the Lorraine industrial basin. Its 20th-century history is deeply intertwined with the rise of the French steel industry. Following World War I, the town underwent rapid expansion due to the establishment of massive steel plants, which led to a population boom and the development of a culturally diverse community. After the decline of metallurgy in the 1970s, Hagondange embarked on a successful urban renewal project, transitioning from heavy industry to a service-based economy. Today, the town is celebrated for its commitment to environmental restoration and public amenities. The Parc de la Ballastière, centered around a scenic artificial lake created from a former quarry, serves as the primary recreational hub for residents. Additionally, the town's location next to the Amnéville leisure complex provides easy access to a famous zoo, thermal baths, and various entertainment venues.
