Souffelweyersheim is an attractive community in Lower Alsace, directly bordering the northern districts of Strasbourg. The town's name is derived from the Souffel River, which flows through its territory. A defining feature of the local scenery is the Rhine-Marne Canal, constructed in the 19th century, which now primarily serves leisure boating and provides a popular recreational area. Historically, Souffelweyersheim was a long-standing agricultural village that underwent rapid development following the Industrial Revolution and due to its proximity to the Alsatian capital. Today, it is a highly desirable residential area that successfully balances modern infrastructure with the preservation of Alsatian traditions. The half-timbered houses in the old town center and the local gastronomy are testaments to the region's deep cultural heritage. As part of the Strasbourg Eurometropolis, the town is exceptionally well-connected, offering its residents a high quality of life between urban convenience and rural tranquility.
