Knudshoved Fort (Denmark)

Weather…

Knudshoved Fort is located on a headland near Nyborg and was a crucial component of Danish coastal defense in the 20th century. Built between 1894 and 1896, it was designed to strategically secure the Great Belt and prevent enemy ships from passing through. The facility consists of several concrete bunkers, cannon emplacements, and observation towers deeply integrated into the coastal landscape. During World War I, the fort was fully operational and housed a large garrison of soldiers. The site maintained its military significance through World War II and the Cold War before finally being decommissioned in the 1990s. Today, the grounds are open to the public, serving as a historical monument and a viewpoint over the Great Belt. Visitors can explore the massive concrete structures and learn about Denmark's maritime military history while enjoying the untouched nature of the headland.
