Greve, often referred to as Greve Strand, is a major suburb south of Copenhagen located on the coast of Køge Bay on the island of Zealand. The city underwent massive population growth during the 1960s and 1970s, transforming from a collection of small villages into a modern commuter hub. Greve is renowned today for its eight-kilometer-long sandy beach, which serves as a popular summer destination for visitors from across the metropolitan region. A historical highlight is the Mosede Fort, a coastal fortification from World War I that now houses a museum detailing Denmark's policy of neutrality during the conflict. The city is excellently integrated into the Copenhagen S-train network, making it a highly attractive residential location. Despite the modern suburban sprawl, traces of the old village centers of Greve and Kildebrönde can still be found further inland. The local economy is driven by retail and services centered around the Greve Midtby Center.
