Valby Park is the largest public park in Copenhagen, covering an area of approximately 64 hectares in the southern part of the Valby district. Established in 1939 on the site of a former landfill, the park has been transformed into a diverse landscape of open lawns, themed gardens, and natural coastal areas. The park is most famous for its extensive rose garden, which features over 12,000 rose bushes representing hundreds of different varieties, attracting flower enthusiasts from all over the country. In 2021, a new natural beach was opened at the southern edge of the park, providing residents with a place to swim in the waters of the Kalvebod Strand. The park also serves as a major venue for large-scale outdoor events, including concerts and the annual Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix. With its numerous playgrounds, disc golf course, and birdwatching towers, Valby Park is a key recreational destination that balances active sports facilities with quiet natural retreats.
