Hvidovre Strand is a popular coastal recreational area located in the southern part of Hvidovre, just a few kilometers from Copenhagen. The beach is largely artificial, having undergone a massive renovation project between 2012 and 2017 to create a better environment for swimmers and sunbathers. This project involved the addition of large quantities of clean sand and the construction of new stone piers to protect the coastline from erosion. The area is characterized by its shallow, calm waters, making it a convenient destination for families with young children. Adjacent to the beach is a large green park area that gives facilities for sports, picnics, and walking trails that connect to the larger Kalvebod Fælled nature reserve. Historically, the area was part of the coastal defense systems of Copenhagen, but today it serves as a modern example of urban coastal planning.
