Karlslunde is a historic village and modern coastal suburb situated in Greve Municipality, approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Copenhagen. The settlement is divided into Karlslunde Landsby, the original inland village with roots dating back to the Middle Ages, and Karlslunde Strand, the coastal area that developed primarily in the 20th century. Karlslunde Church is a landmark in the village, featuring architectural elements from the Romanesque period and housing historical artifacts. In 1807, the area was the site of the Battle of Karlslunde, a naval engagement during the Napoleonic Wars where Danish gunboats successfully defended the coast against British forces. Today, Karlslunde is a popular residential area favored for its proximity to the sea and its well-preserved natural landscapes, including the Karlslunde Forest. The local economy is supported by light industry and its role as a commuter town for the Greater Copenhagen area.
