Pec pod Snezkou serves as the gateway to Snezka (1,603 m), the highest peak in the Czech Republic. The town is best known for its modern cable car that carries visitors comfortably to the mountain top. Originally a mining and forestry settlement, the town still displays traditional mountain architecture. As part of the SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC, it gives one of the largest interconnected skiing areas in the country, featuring night skiing and high-capacity lifts. For families, the local Relaxpark features a summer bobsleigh track and an adventure rope park. The area is an excellent base for high-altitude hikes across the Krkonoše ridges, with numerous mountain huts (bouda) along the trails where one can taste local specialties like 'Kyselo' (sour leaven soup). In autumn, the changing colors of the beech forests are a major draw for nature lovers. Pec also hosts a National Park information center dedicated to local ecology. Parking is readily available in the valley for those arriving by car.
