Sukošan is located in a protected bay called Zlatna Luka (Golden Harbor), about 7 kilometers south of Zadar. The town is a significant nautical center, home to Marina Dalmacija, one of the largest and most modern marinas on the Adriatic. The combination of traditional Dalmatian charm and first-class tourist infrastructure makes Sukošan a favorite destination for sailors and families alike. Sukošan's coastline stretches for several kilometers and has a variety of beaches, with 'Dječji raj' (Children's Paradise) beach being particularly popular with families due to its shallow water and sandy bottom. A historical landmark is the ruins of the Palac summer palace, built in the 15th century on an artificial island in the middle of the bay for the Archbishops of Zadar. In the old town center, narrow streets lead to the Church of Saint Cassian, the patron saint of the town. Sukošan is known for its hospitality and numerous events during the Sukošan Summer, including fishermen's nights and donkey races. The location is handy for trips to nearby national parks like Kornati or Telašćica. Thanks to its proximity to Zadar Airport and the highway connection, the town is very accessible and provides a relaxed holiday atmosphere with many excellent waterfront restaurants.
