Grbe is located just a few kilometers from the historical town of Nin and has a very unusual origin story for Dalmatia. The village was built in the late 18th century by the Venetian counts Marc'Antonio and Girolamo Grbe on the ruins of a former monastery. The goal was to create a modern agricultural estate, which is still reflected today in the planned layout of some buildings and paths. A special landmark is the monumental Baroque gate that once marked the entrance to the agricultural complex. It is a rare example of Venetian rural architecture in this region. The village lies in a flat plain interlaced with canals and directly borders the famous Nin lagoon. The soils here are very fertile and good for growing grain and vegetables. Due to its proximity to Nin, visitors benefit from the sandy beaches there, such as the Queen's Beach (Kraljičina plaža), and the healing mud. Grbe itself is a quiet place connecting history and rural life. Local gastronomy is shaped by the proximity to the sea and the Nin salt pans, where hand-harvested sea salt (Solni cvijet) plays an important role in refining local products.
