Debeljak is located on a hill northeast of Sukošan in Zadar County. Due to its elevated position, the village features impressive views of the Adriatic Sea and the offshore islands like Ugljan and Pašman. Historically, the area has been dominated by agriculture for centuries, but in recent years, Debeljak has developed into an attractive location for luxury holiday villas, offering peace away from the coastal crowds. The village center is defined by the modern Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije), rebuilt after the Croatian War of Independence. Residents celebrate the Velika Gospa feast on August 15th with traditional festivities. The surrounding countryside is first-rate for hiking and cycling through vineyards and olive groves, where fresh air and natural silence prevail. Debeljak's location is strategically excellent: Zadar Airport (Zemunik) is just a few kilometers away, and the largest marina on the Adriatic, D-Marin Dalmacija in Sukošan, is reachable in 10 minutes. This makes the village popular with sailors and travelers seeking a base near Zadar who prefer the privacy of a rural setting.
