Samobor Hills (Croatia)

Weather…

Samoborsko gorje is a scenic mountain range in northwestern Croatia, situated directly west of the town of Samobor. It serves as an eastern spur of the Alps and transitions westward into the Žumberak mountains, with which it shares a designated Nature Park. The highest peak is Japetić, standing at 879 meters, featuring a historic steel observation tower originally located on Zagreb's Sljeme peak. The range is a traditional hiking destination for residents of nearby Zagreb, offering a well-maintained network of trails and numerous mountain lodges. Geologically, the area is diverse, comprising Paleozoic schists and Triassic limestones. Beyond its natural appeal, the region is home to medieval castle ruins such as Okić, one of the oldest fortifications in the area, perched on a steep cliff that is also a pioneer site for Croatian mountaineering.
