Museum of Broken Relationships (Croatia)

Weather…

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is a globally unique institution dedicated to the exploration and preservation of objects left behind from failed partnerships. It was founded in 2006 by film producer Olinka Vištica and designer Dražen Grubišić, initially as a traveling exhibition, before establishing a permanent location in the Kulmer Palace in Zagreb's Upper Town in 2010. The collection consists of personal items donated by people from all over the world, accompanied by anonymous stories that explain the significance of each object. These exhibits range from everyday items to bizarre relics, offering a deep and often emotional insight into the diversity of human bonds and breakups. In 2011, the museum was awarded the Kenneth Hudson Award for the most innovative museum in Europe. It has become one of Croatia's most visited cultural attractions and now also maintains a permanent branch in Los Angeles, reflecting its international resonance.
