Hum is a fascinating phenomenon in the Istrian hinterland. Despite its title as the 'smallest town in the world,' Hum preserves all the hallmarks of a medieval urban structure, including city walls, a gate, a church, and a cemetery. Legend tells that giants built the towns in the Mirna valley and erected Hum from the very last remaining stones. Today, Hum is a vital cultural center for the Glagolitic script, the oldest known Slavic alphabet. The 'Glagolitic Alley' leads from the town of Roč directly here. Beyond history, Hum is famous for 'Humska Biska,' a traditional mistletoe brandy whose 2,000-year-old recipe was allegedly preserved by a local priest. A walk through its two stone streets gives a genuine journey back to the Middle Ages.
