Tyzenhauz Palace (Belarus)

Weather…

The Tyzenhauz Palace in Postavy is a significant architectural monument from the late 18th century, intimately connected to the reformist legacy of the influential Polish-Lithuanian noble and politician Antoni Tyzenhauz. Constructed in the early Neoclassical style, the elegant building was designed by the renowned Italian architect Giuseppe de Sacco. The palace originally served as the administrative heart of a massive urban and economic development project: Tyzenhauz established various manufactories, workshops, and craft schools in the town to modernize the region. In the 19th century, under subsequent ownership, the palace gained European fame when it was transformed into a prominent private ornithological museum and scientific research center. The extensive landscaped parks and gardens surrounding the main building were once magnificent promenades. Although part of the palace currently functions as a hospital, it continues to exude the progressive spirit of the Enlightenment era.
