Krasny Bor Landscape Reserve

The Krasny Bor Landscape Reserve is situated in a secluded area in the extreme north of Belarus on the border with Russia, presenting itself as one of the wildest and most inaccessible territories in the country. Sculpted by massive glaciers of the last Ice Age, the landscape is an impressive mosaic of dense, deeply dark boreal coniferous forests, pristine raised bogs, and dozens of isolated, crystal-clear forest lakes. Krasny Bor is famous for its enormously high density of wildlife, particularly majestic mammals such as moose, red deer, and brown bears, whose populations thrive here almost entirely undisturbed by human influences. Moreover, the reserve is a crucial breeding ground for demanding forest birds like the capercaillie and the black grouse, playing a key role in the preservation of classic taiga ecosystems within Belarusian borders.
