Nizami Mausoleum (Azerbaijan)

Weather…

The Nizami Mausoleum is an imposing monument dedicated to the great Persian poet, Nizami Ganjavi. It is located in his birthplace, the city of Ganja in Azerbaijan. Nizami, who lived in the 12th century, is considered one of the greatest romantic epic poets in Persian literature. Although his original tomb was rebuilt several times over the centuries, the current monumental structure was erected in 1991 after Azerbaijan regained its independence. The mausoleum is a tall cylindrical building made of red granite, surrounded by gardens and statues of his famous characters. It is a place of national veneration and a center for literary events. Visitors come here to pay homage to the poet whose works, such as 'Layla and Majnun,' have profoundly influenced world literature and are a major part of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.
