Meghri Free Economic Zone (Armenia)

Weather…

The Meghri Free Economic Zone (FEZ) is a strategic project designed to leverage Armenia's unique geographical position. Located in the southern Syunik Province on the border with Iran, it is intended to serve as a key trade and logistics hub connecting Iran, Armenia, and the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Established in 2017, the FEZ has significant incentives, including exemptions from VAT, profit tax, and property tax, for companies operating in sectors such as industry, agriculture, and logistics. The goal is to attract foreign direct investment, boost exports, and create jobs in the remote border region. Its proximity to Iran provides a unique opportunity for Armenian and international companies to tap into the Iranian market while also taking advantage of the EAEU's trade benefits. The development of infrastructure in and around the FEZ, including the upgrading of roads connecting it to the rest of Armenia, is critical for its success. The Meghri FEZ is a key element in Armenia's economic strategy to position the country as a bridge between regional markets.
