The Dropull Valley is a major geographical and cultural region in southern Albania, extending along the Drino River from south of Gjirokastër to the Greek border. The valley is bounded by the Mali i Gjerë range to the west and the Lunxhëri mountains to the east. It is divided into Upper and Lower Dropull and is known as the primary settlement area for the Greek minority in Albania. Historically, the valley was a vital corridor for trade and military movement between Epirus and the Albanian interior. Agricultural activity is intensive, with fertile soils supporting the cultivation of grains and fruits. The architecture of the villages in the valley is characterized by solid stone houses and historic Orthodox churches, many dating from the 16th to 18th centuries. The valley plays a key role in regional cultural exchange, preserving unique traditions in music and crafts. Its proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gjirokastër makes it an important spot for cultural tourism.
