Novoselë is a strategically significant municipality in Vlorë County, situated on the fertile plain at the lower reaches of the Vjosa River. Located very close to the Adriatic coast, the settlement serves as a major agricultural hub where the cultivation of olives, grains, and citrus fruits dominates the local economy. Due to its geographical position in the river's floodplain, Novoselë has historically been prone to severe flooding, most notably in 2015 and 2017, which prompted extensive flood defense infrastructure projects. The municipality acts as a vital transportation junction where the A2 motorway and key national roads intersect, linking Central Albania with the southern regions. Beyond agriculture, agrotourism is an emerging sector due to its proximity to the Vjosa-Narta lagoon system, an area of high ecological importance. Historically, the region was part of the ancient settlement network surrounding Apollonia, with various archaeological remains scattered throughout the vicinity.
