Jabal an Nabi Shu'ayb (Yemen)

Weather…

Jabal an-Nabi Shu'ayb is, at an altitude of 3,666 meters, the highest mountain in Yemen and the entire Arabian Peninsula. Located in the western highlands, about 30 kilometers from the capital Sana'a, it is a prominent geographical landmark. The summit houses an important religious sanctuary dedicated to the Prophet Shu'ayb, whose tomb is said to be located here and is the destination for many pilgrims. Due to its extreme height, the mountain has an almost alpine climate with cool temperatures and occasional frost in winter. The slopes are characterized by impressive terraces where agriculture is practiced despite the sparse conditions. From the viewpoints on the mountain, there is a spectacular panoramic view over the rugged Sarawat Mountains and the surrounding valleys. The mountain also serves as a key location for the country's telecommunications facilities. Climbing it requires good physical condition due to the thin air and steep paths but is rewarded by the spiritual atmosphere and the far-reaching views.
