In 2000, following an extensive restoration, the building was reopened as the Umm Al Quwain National Museum. Today, it houses a valuable collection of archaeological artifacts from the nearby Ed-Dur site, historical weapons, and exhibits on regional folklore. The fort stands as a symbol of the Al Mualla dynasty's permanence and has deep insights into the region's maritime past and tribal structures.

Visiting
Umm Al Quwain Fort houses a museum and is open to visitors. The exhibition rooms and the inner courtyard can be explored during museum opening hours.

The museum is typically open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a lunch break from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On Fridays it usually opens after the noon prayer.

Photography is allowed in the museum without flash to protect sensitive exhibits. Pictures can be taken at any time in the courtyard and on the exterior facade.
Time needed
The tour of the fort and museum takes about one hour. If you examine the archaeological finds in detail, allow a bit more time.
