Ajman Fort (United Arab Emirates)

Weather…

Ajman Fort is one of the most significant historical landmarks in the United Arab Emirates and served as the official residence and government center of the Al Nuaimi ruling family until 1970. The fortress was built in the 18th century (around 1775) from coral stone, gypsum, and mud, and was expanded several times over the years. The fort is characterized by its massive defensive towers and imposing gates that once protected the core of Ajman city. After the ruler moved to a modern palace, the building was converted into the Ajman Museum in 1981. Today, it houses an extensive collection of archaeological finds, historical weapons, and exhibits on traditional life, pearl diving, and craftsmanship. Particularly impressive are the reconstructions of a traditional market (Souq) and a wind tower house in the inner courtyard. The fort is not only an architectural jewel but also a central site for preserving the national identity and the rich cultural history of the emirate.
