Shatsk is the main town of the Shatsk National Nature Park, a unique region in northwestern Ukraine bordering Poland and Belarus. The area is famous for its cluster of 24 lakes, often called the 'blue eyes of Volyn'. The water in these lakes is exceptionally clean and rich in silver and glycerin ions, which are believed to have healing properties for the skin. The town serves as a bustling tourist hub with numerous campsites, guesthouses, and resorts. Surrounded by vast pine and birch forests, Shatsk features a refreshing and oxygen-rich environment, especially popular during the hot summer months. The forests are abundant with wild berries and mushrooms, while the lakes provide a habitat for rare birds and the famous Shatsk eel, a local delicacy that every visitor must try. For active travelers, there are well-marked cycling paths, opportunities for rowing and sailing, and many hiking trails. The flat landscape of the Polesia region makes it very accessible for families and casual explorers. Shatsk is a place where wild nature meets a well-developed tourism infrastructure, offering a first-rate summer escape by the water.
