Mirror Stream Fountain (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Mirror Stream Fountain, locally known as Dzerkalna strunya, is the unofficial symbol of Kharkiv and a masterpiece of mid-20th-century architecture. Located in Victory Park opposite the Kharkiv Opera House, it was built in 1947 to celebrate the victory in World War II. The structure features an elegant white pavilion with an arched roof from which water flows in a steady, sheet-like stream into a basin below, creating a reflective 'mirror' effect. At night, the fountain comes alive with a sophisticated colorful lighting system that illuminates both the water and the pavilion. Historically, the site was occupied by St. Nicholas Church, which was demolished by Soviet authorities in 1930 to make way for a trolleybus depot before the park was established. Today, the Mirror Stream is a beloved gathering spot, a prime location for wedding photography, and one of the 'Seven Wonders of Kharkiv.' Its graceful proportions and tranquil setting offer a peaceful retreat in the heart of the busy city.
