Kalkan
Kalkan is one of the most stylish and tranquil spots on the Turkish coast. This former Greek fishing village has preserved its historical character: narrow streets are filled with blooming bougainvillea and excellent rooftop restaurants. The town is famous for its high-quality dining, where every dinner comes with a panoramic sea view. Nearby Kaputaş Beach with its turquoise water and the endless sand dunes of Patara Beach are among the most beautiful in the world. The area is rich in ancient sites as it lies along the Lycian Way; the ruins of Xanthos and Letoon are just a short drive away. Nature lovers can take boat trips to secluded coves or explore nearby mountain villages. Kalkan's atmosphere is romantic and quiet, avoiding the noise of mass tourism. Access is easiest via Dalaman Airport, which is about a one-and-a-half-hour transfer. The best time to visit is June and September, when the days are warm and the evenings are great for outdoor dining.
