Korba, known in antiquity as Curubis, is located on the eastern coast of the Cap Bon peninsula in Tunisia. The city is home to a rich history dating back to Punic times and gained strategic importance under the Romans as a fortified settlement. Curubis was fortified in 46 BC during the Roman Civil War. Today, Korba is often called the 'Red City,' a nickname referring to the extensive cultivation of tomatoes and strawberries in the region. The town is surrounded by ecologically significant lagoons, classified as internationally protected wetlands (Ramsar sites), providing a habitat for numerous migratory birds, including greater flamingos. Beyond agriculture, the food processing industry is a cornerstone of the local economy. Its coastal position also makes Korba a popular summer destination for tourists seeking long sandy beaches and the region's historical heritage.
